Incidentally, why isn't "spacecraft" another word for "interior design"?

This idea comprises a set of overhead luggage bins which have external hatches outside the fuselage. A set of the bins forms a tube; there are hatches at both the foreward and aft ends of the tube.

In event of an emergency landing, at the time the doors are opened and the emergency slides deployed, a decision will be made as to which direction to eject the luggage. This decision is made known to the passengers, so they can rush in the proper direction to find the bag-heap and collect their belongings.

What could possibly go wrong ...? [+]

The next logical step would be to deplane passengers in the same way.

Or if there happens to be a passenger that annoys everyone, they have to retrieve their overhead luggage from the nearest ocean or roof top.
