Long Jar
Connect two jars together with a tiny diameter but very long hose. | |
People carry water in jars on their heads. If you search Google images for "carry water" most of the images show someone carrying a jar of water on their head.
The walks look long and time consuming.
If you could pour water in one jar, and then walk a 1/4 mile a pick up the same water from a
2nd jar, it just seems it would save someone a lot of effort.
Tiny pipes get plugged easily, so some sort of filter in the first jar is unavoidable. But if the filter keeps mud and insects out of your morning coffee, that is like a good thing.
Of course, if any animal or plant figures out there is water in those tiny tubes, it will screw up the whole deal.
Could work by gravity, siphon, or pressure depending on where the water source and destination are.

If you're running pipes you may as well use big ones and run them all the way. |

Could do the same thing with solid goods, using a trolley on rails. |

This is a wider question of individual versus communal resourcing. I'm thinking, to be worth it, this system has to be greater than an individual because of the investment in pots and tubing. |

Alternatively this was going to be sequel to the
Pratchett/wossername co-written The Long Mars. |

What would be even more awesome is if one of those jars
was really big, and really high, and the other jar was fixed
inside your hut somehow. |

Seeing as it's two jars, does Jar Jar Binks get some royalties? |

Doesn't sound like this enlightenment stuff does you a whole lot of good. |

At least the jar is lighter now. |
