Live movie orchestra

A full orchestra sits upon a stage in front of the screen. The movie soundtrack has been remixed without music, which is filled in by the musicians as the movie plays.

Obviously this would cost much more than a regular movie, but live music sounds (and looks) much better than that coming from a box.

Nice idea, but Baked. Several years ago I went to see a performance of the film Naked Lunch from the William Burroughs' book. It featured a live orchestra accompanied by the wonderful Ornette Coleman.

I would love this! I'd have something to look at while waiting for the next naked scene.

+ I wonder if people will cough and unwrap candies in between pieces?

Baked or not, this is a great idea.

Wasn't this what was done for silent movies? Some just had a piano, but there must have been some orchestras.

I thought of this a few months ago but found it already pre-baking away. I think it's ace, especially if applied to something like Star Wars. However, I think there's lots of scope for applying a grandiose orchestral score over the top of otherwise menial sections of a film, like the main character buying some groceries, or brushing their teeth.
