An half inspired speculation from a "save yourself from yourself function" idea.
<satire ahead warning>
Think of it like a carbon sink hole for HalfBakery belches of mini-ideas. It saves binary space therefor it's less filling.
This place is for the most simple ideas and annos
for user options/suggestions that are too lite to have their own page but worth up to half the merrit of regular page holders thereby deserving their own special place.
Provides a timless a la cart free flow of purely speculating ruminations.
And a perfect place for their pertinent quips to rest in peas....</satire ahead warning>

In any case, it's a pretty big departure from the hb format and I think not worth the effort (my opinion). |
<ca-ching...ca-ching... (2 halfpennies worth)> |
"I propose a HB pop up utility window dictionary search for transcontinental colloquialisms and one where the most recent HB usage of such is given for an example ..." |
Bristol, not necessarily. Perhaps my title then is distracting from the intentions I had in mind. |
It really isn't a WIBNI type of place. The satirical lingo just jumped from my lap. I will work on that shortly. |
As I scanned some HB catagory lists I realized how much of it would better be suited under an a la cart idea list. It's conventions would work very much like a <spoken in undertones as head nods to the side> very popular "game show" device nearby. |
Seems like a very far departure from the hb format, as bristolz said. It would be better as, in my humble opinion, a separate site or just an open blog. |
bristolz: very small quibble, but that is the exact format of the Halfbakery Tagline suggestions section. |
[Note to waugsqueke: it is bristolz who thinks this sounds like a blog, not me.] |
I'll vote for any idea that cuts the bloat out of the Halfbakery section. (I've noted elsewhere that I think they should all be marked for expiry. Unlike the other ideas here, once jutta has seen them, they'll either be implemented or they won't. No further debate is necessary.) |
hj, while I generally admire satirical lingo, I have found that in a few of your most recent ideas, the lingo has gotten in the way of actually understanding what it is you are suggesting. That is the case here, for me at least. |
While I should not respond while admittedly not really grasping your suggestion, I will say it sounds like you are proposing that ideas directly related to the HB should be treated differently than other ideas. |
I can think of no reason why that should be. The idea format is already here, and ideas about the bakery are still ideas. |
And Dr C-ly, if you are suggesting that the halfbakery tagline idea is a blog, it causes me to question if you know what a blog is. |
*Honestly* - Save your own wish list for your own site or two - just like the handfull of halfbakers who do this. Fascinating reads which you'll have to find your own elf. |
[Rods], good man, You have just earned an A+ and set a good example for the rest of the class! |
//...the lingo has gotten in the way of actually understanding...\ |

[Waugsqueke] I have complete empathy for you saying this. I am guilty. I admit publicly here and now that my first idea was actually the seed of an potential entry for the Bulwer-Lytton (bad) writing contest all in fun.
However, I have been working conscientiously to exercise judgment over my insipient indulgence of satire.
To demonstrate:
In just over the month since I first stopped by I have trimmed 89% non-germane fat from my ideas.
#1 Idea: Est. 750 words (after counting to 500).
#2 Idea: 171 words
#3 Idea: 135 words
#4 Idea: 85 words
85/750
That's a 11.3% operating level from start up in only 39 days! I admit the effect has caused my annos to appear more intensely writ with wit. But I believe this is temporary. |
Why should Jutta keep all the fun to herself? And: How is a 'suggestion list' truly benign from being a notion list or a <whispers> wish list? |
<back at business>
I propose in speculative fashion an icon marker feature for idea pages so that a person doing research on existing ideas, covering their back, or catching up on a favorite soap opera episode from where they last left it, may mark a paragraph or word for ease of returning to when shuffling through a desktop of multiple open windows of HB ideas as I have been doing. |
The marker feature will consist of either a fishbone or a half only croissant of the same design issue of the tallies above, under 'related ideas' The icons will be shaded gray or colored in red. The icon will be available for users through their view settings where users can select maximum lengths of time for position retention and other related utilities within a designated binary budget. It will be active only during user login. Possible location for its code is with user name/password or the profile page's last updated notation or reference from such. The icon marker will serve as the web page version of similar little reposition sticky "Sign Here" document flag tags. |
This little burp of an idea is only worth about half of one anno at most... So please refrain from watching it too closely. It' been an exciting adventure here at the bakery. Life wouldn't be the same now without this Staff. "Keep on tech'ing."

"Why should Jutta keep all the fun to herself?" Um, she does have to program all this stuff on her own free time, you know. Seems like a good enough reason to me. |
Also, she has thoughtfully provided us with the means to go back and edit or delete earlier postings, whether ideas, links or annotations. If you regret the wordiness of your earlier attempts, why don't you go back and correct them? |
DrCurry, I didn't mentioned regret for anything.
If you think that I 'expect' Jutta to feel obligated to consider how she might bring anything on this page to bear fruit in code then one of us is wearing our pants on our head. |
It looks irrisistably fun. I'll try it with you :-) |
