My newborn daughter is facinated with light and shadow. I've seen black-and-white baby mobiles, but nothing that actually lit up.
The Light Mobile line would include everything from cradle-sized to lawn art pieces. Using various colors, shapes, globe textures and brightnesses, the Light Mobile
line would have something for everyone.
And the light is just half the picture. The unusual shadows and moving shapes cast by the Light Mobile line create an artwork all their own.

[angel] Almost, but your link is for a proposal for same and I don't think it'd fit on a cradle. |

Congratulations, [phoenix]. (On the daughter, not the idea.)(But the idea is good, too.) |

When my boys (twins) were babies we had everything we
could possibly find to keep them amused. We had a
rotating dome over a light bulb with shapes stuck to it,
(cars, stars, moons and clouds) this produced enlarged
moving shadows all over the room, which they loved,
although they were only silhouettes. |

When my daughter was about 6 months old, I "borrowed" the company's digital projector. One thing I did with it was hook it up to my home computer, and ran the Geiss plug-in for WinAmp. The girl was absolutely mesmerized by the music and changing light patterns on the wall. |

If I could get this effect without buying (or stea..er..borrowing) $8,000 worth of equipment, you'd get some of my cash. For now, you just get my croissant. |

Great idea Guncrazy. I'll bet it looked cool. A really amateur way to do something like this is to take an old speaker and a sheet of rubber (a big balloon) and stretch the rubber over the speaker so that the surface is taut. Glue a small mirror in the center of the rubber (get a small first surface mirror from Edmunds if you can). Hook the speaker up to radio, stereo, etc., and shine a small light onto the mirror. |
