Fluffy cuteness through the post

Do you have a friend who is depressed, under the weather, has had a bad break up or is overworked and underpaid?

Cheer them up with a kitten-o-gram (TM). Warm their hearts and laps with a special delivery kitten, whilst enabling them to avoid the stress of cat hair on the sofa or kitten poo underfoot.

Our specially designed, air-conditioned courier service will deliver the kittens on the day of your choice along with a ball of wool, a bag of catnip and a packet of kitten treats. Your friend can cuddle and play to their heart's content, allowing them to forget the stresses and strains of modern life. After the time period is up, our courier will call to go over your sofa with a lint roller and take the kittens back.

Not sure if they'll be in? Send a kitten-voucher so they can book the kitten for a time that fits with their plans.

Annotation:

I was thinking it was more of a gift than a pet share thing. Instigated by you for a friend than by you for yourself. And it's not your kitten you're sharing - it's more that there would be a pool of kittens available. This would also mean that a bunch of unwanted kittens could be petted and made a fuss of. That was why I thought the gift category might be right?

There are a whole load of options for future expansion of this business. Perhaps send people you don't like a tarantula for the weekend?

not sure you'd get many people redeeming their tarantula-o-grams.

the perfect gift for 8/7, make sure you get a security deposit.

If you're sending a tarantulagram you probably wouldn't choose the voucher system. I think taking a copy of your nemesis' diary and planning a time when you know they'll be in is probably the order of the day.

Although I like the human caring idea, out of an animal caring perspective I must protest this idea. What happens to the kittens 'in service' when they grow up (or are we talking bonzai's here?)? And how well does a kitten fare, being relocated to a new home every other day?
Brummo, Aug 05 2003

Once the cats grow up, they could perhaps be retired to old peoples homes. The slightly more mature people might not have the energy for kittens but would still appreciate the warmth of a cat on the lap. It might stop them going senile so quickly. It is postulated that a cat's purr is the right frequency to aid bone strengthening so a cat on the lap would be an ideal treatment for those suffering from osteoporosis.

I like kittens but this is a terrible idea. There is entirely too much potential for mistreated cats by people who didn't really want a cat but got one as a gift and just accepted it to be polite. People are generally spineless and will not tell you if they don't like your gift. It's not fair to the cat. If that person really wants a cat and are prepared to take on the responsibility they can go down and adopt one on their own. Otherwise they sort of end up being "disposable", which is really sad...

I have a couple of cats that I will give away. One mean and one very nice to suit whatever your mood is. I won't be back to pick them up either.
