On your wifes birthday you give her an electric egg beater, in handsome white with faux chrome trim. It looks a little funny, but it works great! She loves the gift, and she loves you!
The next day, when shes not looking, you take it to the garage, remove the egg beater attachment, and replace
it with a drill bit. Presto! Its a cordless drill!
On subsequent birthdays, follow up with a dough mixer (drill press), electric bread knife (reciprocating jig saw), and food processor (router). Youll look forward to her birthday almost as much as she does.
(Note: For clarity I have assumed that you have a wife, and she likes to cook. These products are equally suitable for people who have husbands who like to cook.)

What happens when she wants to use one of the appliances and finds it's been altered? |

They're re-configurable, so after you're done drilling, you put the egg beater or dough hook attachment back in the chuck and return it to the kitchen. |
|
|
I think they already have tools where you can swap out parts so they do different things. Not exactly sure about your combos, though. |

Wha? Ah, sexual innuendo, always extremely hilarious, yes. |

silly sexual stereotypes. I would much prefer the DIY tools for *my* birthday and UB would beat you senseless if you messed with his spotless kitchen appliances and you don't get more macho than he. |

That is *so* darling, Butch. Thanks, Bob. |

I was so lucky to have been bought a multi-function hobby mill for my last birthday. It's a flatbed mill, a metalwork lathe, a wood turning lathe, a drill press, a jig-saw, and many other things I've always wanted. |
|
|
It doesn't beat eggs, though. |

Coming soon: The Dremel Electric Toothbrush attachment. |

you can buy a power flosser now. |

Mommy: "OK, who used the vibrator last?" Daddy: "I stuffed the turkey with it just this morning, why?" Mommy: "I can't find the tickler attachment anywhere." |

Just a hint for all you men out there - an egg beater for your wife's (or girlfriend's or mom's or sister's or daughter's) birthday gift is probably NOT the greatest idea - unless she specifically asked for one! Actually - I am fascinated with kitchen appliances/gadgets...but that doesn't mean it's the best b-day gift! |

I think my wife would object to this on the grounds that the tools would get too dirty when used in the shop.
She did think it was quite funny that before we married I used to use a wire wisk in my drill to make whipped cream. It worked very well. |
