There is a school of thought that children and even possibly adults learn via kinetic motion.
At the same time:
1) A famous old Greek mneumonic technique requires that you visualize ideas which are placed along a path in some familiar setting
2) Students and people (still) can't congregate anywhere
safely except for possibly outdoors.
3) One recent British study claims that people who walk more have remarkably healthier hearts.
So...in this school of thought, each day's lesson should take place while the students are hiking somewhere. Signposts are placed along the path, in dramatically different sizes and shapes, to match the Greek mneumonic technique. The signposts have the same topical theme, front and back, so the class can review them on their hike back.
I was going to say something funny, but there is nothing funny about today's education.

I have a feeling that there is a lot of process-prescriptive specialization in schools. I sometimes struggle to express myself in simple English, but this Forest School has too many process-oriented buzzwords, even if it's only a matter of marketing. There's nothing greatly new in the idea in general, so why isn't it widespread as a COVID-era alternative, evolving eventually into a better standard than soporific old classrooms? |
