As I was strolling through the peat-bog on my way to work, I thought to myself - "Wouldn't it be nice to have a calculator built on to your keyboard".
Just where those lights are with nlock clock and slock written on them, we could put an inexpensive LCD display just like a calculators.
A
small toggle switch located on an available section of the keyboard will disable the number-pad and route it to the calculator chip embedded inside the keyboard. The number-pad itself has all the neccessary functions for an arithmetic calculator. It would display your calculation on the LCD screen.

I'm pretty sure this was baked, back in early '286. I'm going nuts trying to find it, though. |

It would be really handy if this calculator would work even if my computer was not powered up. I end up having to keep a separate hand calculator on my desk just for those occasions. |

Found it! They're currently out of stock at the link I provided, but I'm sure you could find it on ebay or through a Google search under Focus Keyboard. |

I used to have one - maybe from Cherry ? But I changed companies and had to leave it behind <sob, whimper>. |

It had 12 extra programmable function keys, too. |

Trodden, you have a clock on your keyboard?! |

I have a mouse mat with a calculator and clock built in. It was a birthday present and it's MINE, ALL MINE, so I can keep it. I think it came from Next or The Sharper Image or something. I've seen the same thing in their catalogs for about GBP £15. |

My keyboard has a "Calculator" button located right above the * key, which loads up calc.exe when pressed. |

Beauxeault - No I hav A C/LOCK LED. caps lock, I also have a slock and a nlock. |

If you have win 9x+, make a shortcut to your calc.exe, right-click on it and choose properties. Make the shortcut key Ctrl-Alt-right. Do the same for your notepad with ctrl-alt-left. This makes these two often used (for me anyway) programs very accessable. You can remember it easily, as the right arrow points to your numbers and the left arrow points to letters. |
