Simple. Allow italics in the 1/2bakery.

They would be useful.

And I agree with st3f's anno. Just italics. Not other fonts.

Italics on HB welll, sort of... http://www.halfbake...earchexpression=you
Here are some. [Dub, Feb 27 2006]

people of all nations are welcome here in the halfbakery.
xclamp, Jul 17 2004

...but those from english speaking countries have all the fun ;)
Pericles, Jul 17 2004

Only if Sofia Loren posts regularly.
James Newton, Jul 17 2004

No! We don't want their 'type' here. (sorry, very bad pun).
RayfordSteele, Jul 17 2004

       //They would be useful.//
Why? Just type <i>something in italics</i>. Most people will know what you mean.
angel, Jul 17 2004

       [RayfordSteele] inspired!
theircompetitor, Jul 17 2004

There have been many suggestions to add various (or all) HTML formatting markups to the HB (I myself posted a strikethrough suggestion...)

The problem is that it's bound to be overused and abused, and then we'll all wish we'd listened to [DrCurry].
Detly, Jul 18 2004

       Who's [DrCurry]?
silverstormer, Jul 18 2004

       Where's DrCurry's anno?
DesertFox, Jul 18 2004

Um, gee, why's everyone looking at me?
DrCurry, Jul 18 2004

[DrCurry] where were you on the night of the 17th?
xclamp, Jul 18 2004

Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Communist and/or Democratic Party?
thumbwax, Jul 18 2004

       I told you it'd happen.
Detly, Jul 19 2004

Should the "Dr" in [DrCurry] be in italics?
Fishrat, Jul 19 2004

There could be an "italic license" after you've been here for 2 years and obtained sufficient croissantage. After 3 years (or 1 kiloday, perhaps) you get to post in bold.
phundug, Jul 19 2004

The good Dr may well be the "Italic Connection"
tasman, Jul 19 2004

<crap pun> This site is the font of all knowledge.<crap pun//> Sorry

I don't see why they would be useful
sufc, Jul 19 2004

Oh no!! What are us Trebuchets to do about it?
tasman, Jul 20 2004

And then somebody would want customised handwriting fonts, as well.
neelandan, Jul 20 2004

       <Zanzibar Sings>I shot the serif...</zs>
half, Jul 20 2004

But I did not shoot the Trebuchet.
angel, Jul 20 2004

Let's add smileys, signitures, avatars, wingdings.

       Actually, let's not.

       We don't <i>really</i> need this!!
britboy, Jul 20 2004

If we let the others in, we will be in danger of becoming full fontal
tasman, Jul 21 2004

There'd be those who'd become an enfont terrible.
bristolz, Jul 21 2004

As long as all the characters keep their clothes on I don't mind (surpresses awful pun).

Croissant to DesertFox. I think italics would add something good to the look of the halfbakery (checks out Trebuchet MS in italics). Yep, looks nice. For the record, I'm against user changing of character weight, size colour and decoration. Just italics.
st3f, Jul 21 2004

Looking at [Dub]'s link, I'm not keen. If we have to change things, could we go the other way - remove underlines, punctuation, maybe even caps?
wagster, Feb 27 2006

[wags], given that nothing's happened in the 19 months since this was posted, I don't think you have to worry.
egbert, Feb 27 2006

[Wags] [po]'ll like that, I'm sure.
Dub, Feb 27 2006

       KNOWING ME DUB, I'D REBEL...
po, Feb 27 2006

       Well that caps it all!

       One for Mr Tindale...

"I hate Italians. Nasty, slanty little eyes they've got...sorry...I mean italics!"

       //That's a bold statement.//

No, it seems plain-text to me.
