Looking at the number of boy-racer Corsas on the roads around me, festooned with various coloured LEDs, it occurred to me that there is a market for the more refined car detailer.
Cars have blue LEDs on the windshield washer caps, multicoloured LEDs on tyre dust-caps, red LED brake light bars, antenna
LEDs...very ostentatious, very chav.
For the more sophisticated, I propose infra-red LEDs, invisible to the human eye, but known to the connoisseur of fine customising. Quietly displaying your class, not so... in-your-face.
Oh, did I mention that given sufficient IR LEDs, you could dazzle some classes of speed camera?
[Thanks to [yabba do yabba dabba] for the improved title!]
(?) This is the sort of thing we're up against

This could lead to a secret chav society, a chavian underground. The general public will become very nervous, demanding formation of a watchers group to track their movements. Guido-spex IR contact lenses will be all the rage. |

WTAGIPBAN - "Wasn't that a good idea posted by a newbie?" It's a compliment, believe it or not. Unlike WIBNI - "wouldn't it be nice if..." |

+1. questions later, neat user name. |

Suspension lowered by 1mm - only discernable to the expert |

[yabba do yabba dabba] Why didn't I think of that? Thanks! |

How about also having the world's most
perfect in-car sound system, combined
with the world's most perfect noise-
cancellation system, mutually
anihillating eachother to produce
perfect silence? |
If you stood next to the car too long, could you leave with a custom sun-tan from the IR lights? |
So what was the old name? |
[2fries] It was "Invisible Bling" - I can't believe I missed "Invisibling. I wasn't sure what bakery etiquette was about changing names - apologies. |
I don't think there is an etiquette about changing your ideas name, unless it's only being changed to pop it back to the top of the recent list. So no apologies, and welcome. |
One more "name change etiquette" rule would be not to change an entire idea + name in order to put votes and annos on an entirely different idea (which you didn't do, obviously). |
especially if it were a really good bun-grabbing different idea. |

How about motor-driven "spinner" rims that are maintained at exactly 1 rpm slower than the rpm of the wheel? |
At first, I thought that this was going to be a description of the Hans Christian Andersen Classic // The Emperor's New Clothes Jewellery//, then I read it. |
I liked the Infra-red LEDs... Very smart. They'd cause glare on speed cameras without drawing attention to themselves. It'd takes ages for the rozzas to nail ya. |
What about a chroming the inside of your doors and your seat springs. ? |
I thought this was going to be an imaginary brother or sister. Invi-sibling. This is good too, though. |
Err, [up-on-cloud-nine], exhaust pipes are already platinum-lined. You knew that, right? |
[Dub] When I saw the title "anti-paparazzi bag", I imagined something like a brown paper grocery bag, with eye holes. |
Body colour-matched Nurburgring decal. |
I'm thinking of a plain white car festooned with
fantastically detailed graphics visible only in the IR or UV
spectrums. Or both--different art will appear depending on
which augmented optics you're using. |
I like this 'bake a lot. If I gave a s#!t about the appearance
of my vehicle, I'd actually implement it. |
Someone just has to point this out, so:
"The Emperor's New Bling" |
Somebody did point that out Vernon, about 4 years ahead
of you. |
OK, I confess I didn't read ALL the annos before I posted. My bad. |
Nobody says "bling" anymore; try "shine" instead. |
assemshine// I laughed two minutes after reading
that. It took me 2 minutes to get it. |
Not sure about your car, but my car already emits quite a bit in the IR spectrum. |
This idea is just awesome |
