International Symbol for International

I need a symbol that tells the world that something applies internationally, or that I love all nations.

I was driving home yesterday from class and noticed a small U.S. flag sticker on the side of the vehicle waiting next to me for the red light to change to green. The class I'm taking is about business communications among the various cultures that exist. I find it very interesting and engaging.

Anyway, when I saw the flag sticker, I felt like we need a new symbol that represents all nations, not just one. This symbol could be used to indicate a love of all nations, or a product or object that can be used or interpreted universally.

I realize we could go with an Earth, or the UN symbol, or the peace symbol, but there is no designated *official* symbol, and those don't seem to convey what I want to express. The symbol should express not just unity, but also the wide diversity that exists. Just yesterday, I learned that there is a culture in Africa that has translated their language into whistles for use in the wide open lands there!

So, what should the international symbol for "International" look like???

Whistled Speech http://en.wikipedia...iki/Whistled_speech
Apparently, there are many cultures who whistle in languages. Who knew? [XSarenkaX, Oct 09 2008]

Given that XSarenkaX's ideas are enjoyed throughout the world, I propose a picture of XSarenkaX :)

Aww, [phundug]. I'm touched. (Interpret that any way you wish.)

We whistle when we're afraid. Which is normally when we spot the Bubbawok prowling through the 'bakery (... with eyes of flame, came whiffling through the tulgey wood, and burbled as it came).

How about a nice cube, with the logo "Resistance is Futile" on it in all of your Earth languages ?

       Churn alert! ;)

I'm kind of disappointed this didn't generate more ideas from such a creative group. Is this too boring a concept for you guys?

Regarding the link, I wonder if you did a "wolf whistle" to all the different whistle language groups how many would recognize the intent?

What about a ribbon with all the flags of the world on it. There's a ribbon for everything else.

Whistled speech? Hard to understand if your R2 unit has got a bad power converter.

I want a symbol that says I hate everybody. Everybody!

That one's easy - just a picture of Grouchy Smurf will do it.

It just occurred to me that the HalfBakery is chock-full of cultures and nationalities. The international symbol for international might as well be a half-croissant! And lucky me, I already have an apron with this symbol on it, plus two plus items sitting on my desk. Tada!

If it didn't already mean olympics, then the olympic rings might do.
