Perhaps homeless people would get more change if they invested in a portable Interac machine. If you don't have change on you, all you have to do is swipe your bank card. Minimal fuss for both parties.

Technically they wouldn't get change. They'd get money accredited to their bnk account, a bank accoutn that they don't have because they have no permanent addres, but by the time you have read this far, the credit card will have been stolen by the homeless person, along with the owner credibility. |

sctld: Quite true. Given that the system would be in place, it would only work if street people, vagrants, bums, panhandlers and squigee kids were elevated to an occupational status. |

Still, it would make things easier. |

phoenix: yup. Interac =ATM machine. |

Maybe a switch/solo machine woudl be better, that way you can allocate a certain amount to the switch/solo account, and then you could personally decide how much was handed over. And if the card gets stolen, then its only your homeless accoutn that he gets access to. |

I'm not paying a $3 service fee to give a bum change. I will, however, happily hand them job applications to McDonalds, etc.. |
