 Take the guesswork out of spoiled leftovers

I had an idea not to long ago that would totally eliminate the guesswork of leftover freshness. Have you ever had to have a taste/smell test for your leftover food to check to see if it was spoiled or not?? Eating spoiled foods can cause food poisoning and other illnesses. this detection can be done By using some sort of chemically coated celiphane wrap (to be placed on leftover food containers as you would use regular celephane) that would change colors when the food was bad (airborne bacteria would react with the chemical). of course, the chemical would have to be food safe and the dye moisture-proof.

       I am the inventor of this idea and yes, i won a scholarship (invention convention) 5 years ago. If you look at the first comment, someone was blaming me on stealing THEIR idea, but obviously i didn't because the idea was thought up by me 5 years ago... that is why i mentioned it. Thanks for the comments!

       i have noticed serious swiss cheesing on here recently, either i can't read or some annos are vanishing immediately.   

       seems like a good idea would need serious health and safety checks to ensure the product isn't detrimental to the food.

       Also, what if the part of the food that has gone bad is not touching the wrap? Moldy bread starting at the plate-side, the rest is still good.

       I've seen a similar invention built into milk cartons to warn of spoilage. The indicator was simply a small plastic window that changed from clear to red when exposed to a certain signature chemical produced as milk goes sour. It was a great idea, but since it nearly doubled the cost of the packaging, it didn't catch on.   

       So I'd have to call this baked, although not widely known to exist. However, it's still a great idea, so (+)
