At work, we've just got some junk mail advertising an InfraRed night vision system which can be added after-market to your car / truck / Military vehicle. This coincidentally uses a viewing screen suspiciously similar to one of those new fangled GPS modules.

Why not combine large screen GPS modules with InfraRed night vision systems to have one super-size swiss-army style GPS / night vision / phone / blackberry / mp3 player?

I don't get what's new about this. Sharing one display among different functions is a good idea, and a lot of cars do that - depending on what the driver is doing, the same LCD screen shows a radio station, traffic conditions, GPS data, car performance data, etc.
