Hangover Reminder Pill

For that "morning after" feeling

I feel terrible today. This is because last night I got drunk. I knew if I carried on with the red wine, then beer, that I was likely to get drunk, it's just that last night I forgot how unpleasant hangovers can be.

I would like to see a little pill which I could take with a glass of water shortly before going out, which would give me an instant hangover for 30 minutes or so.

This would make me think twice about going out at all. I may even stay in and read a book. Life would be better in many ways.

Run as fast as you can into a wall head first.

       And it's free.

Wine then beer, feeling queer. Beer then wine, feeling fine.

Spider, you know this is actually a *really* sensible idea! I do the same as you - I know I'll get a hangover, but I always "forget" how bad that hangover will be.

Alternatively, you could just do as I did and give drink up altogether. I didn't touch a drop for four months. Then I went to Ireland on holiday......

I need a pill to remind me how tired I feel the morning after I stay up late. A sleeping pill in the evening would give me that tired feeling...and I wouldn't be up late.

The very worst part of the morning after is not the pain in the head, it's the creeping uncertainty. "What in the name of the wee man did I do last night?" If only someone could create and market a pill that gives the taker an insidious, cloudy half recollection of the horrified expressions of your friends/family as you ... as you ... what did I do?

       Never again. Never.

re link: I knew of the Vitamin B thing, didn't know about prickly pear. I've tried Vitamin B before, it really works. Just take it about 2 hours before you think you might start drinking and you'll be fine, or at least better off then you would have been.

Beer before liquor, you've never been sicker; liquor before beer, you're in the clear.

If you drink real ale (ie, naturally fermented, non-filtered, conditioned in the cask), you get vitamin B already because there's some yeast left in the beer.

Beer before spirits is bad for you, because you drink the spirits at the same speed as you were swigging mouthfuls of beer. It's easy to avoid hangovers though, or it would be if you could remember all the good advice when you're drunk.
pottedstu, Apr 11 2002

Wussies. Once you've started drinking, hangovers can be avoided completely by either (a) staying drunk, or (b) not sleeping.

I just take a multivitamin and drink at least 2 glasses of water before I go to bed -- usually fine the next day, after that.

No pill is necessary; just drink two cups of coffee, a big bottle of Mountain Dew, then eat some peanut brittle, fudge and organic chocolate chip cookies, and you can create that hangover feeling instantly. Though, from experience, that just makes you want to start drinking more to get rid of the nausea.
