Inside the 'body' of the halo, there will be a ring of small electromagnets, one for every 10 minutes (possibly 5 minutes, depending on size of magnets and/or clock). As time passes, power to one magnet will die down, as the next one gradually gains power. The hands of the clock will be ball bearings,
rolling around the inside of the halo.
The clock can either have just an hour hand, or can have two halos, back to back, to allow for a minute hand on the second ring.

I've seen a clock that had a ball bearing following a hidden moving magnet - easier to move a single magnet than pass off the bearing from one magnet to another. |
