Hallway Organ

Replace a door with organ pipes in a windy hallway

When you open the windows on both sides of my building on a windy day, a strong, even wind can blow through. There's one door through which all the air must pass.

Make a replacement door with organ pipes through it so that any such hallway can become a musical instrument when the door is shut. The musician plugs and opens pipes using levers at the side of the door. If doors are standard, installation should be as easy as replacing the door.

Unreliable airflow or messy implementation cannot diminish the poetic symbiosis of a beautiful instrument with a sterile steel tower. One understands now that the Hallway organ could not work without the building; only later might one discover that the office could not work without the organ.
