Tired of wading through page after page of rants, chat room fluff and bickering trolls, car-to-car messaging systems, the self-referential me-too posts, and the idle doodlings of bored office workers?
Then come visit the Halfbakery Biennial, a juried selection filtering out everything that doesn't
strictly meet the criteria of the help file, the unoriginal and/or boringly familiar, anything that has ever been Baked, the entire Halfbakery section, and probably just about everything by DrCurry. Only the crême-de-la-half-baked-crême hangs on these walls.
To make this even remotely doable, the Biennial will consist of only those ideas all the judges have voted in favor of. (Suggestions for other mechanisms welcome, of course.)
As to how we pick the jury, that could simply be the moderators, who one presumes only vote for ideas that meet the criteria in the Help file. Alternatively, we could let each user pick his/her own combination of judges, thereby giving each Biennial visitor a uniquely half-baked experience.
(I, for one, would be fascinated to see what would result from a jury of blissmiss, -alx and georgetherobin.)
On reflection, this would entail revealing the jurists' votes to the public (through the selection mechanism). So I guess I am really asking that voting be made public, at least for those users who wish it to be so.
[bliss: note po's response to FarmerJohn; it is not presently possible to base a view on *someone else's* votes.]

Or each user could have an own filter so that selection criteria decides what you see. |

I think it is the combo concept that the good doctor has in mind. we already have the luxury of personal filters and I seem to have acquired 9 of them so far. |

you looking at me phoenix? |

Not you [po]. I was hoping [DrCurry] had something in place already. |

[DrCurry] While there's probably a fair bit of common ground between myself and bliss, I suspect george would effectively veto those ideas in favour of an omnibus special of p*** p***s ideas. |

[], elitist? Yes, therefore it gets my fishbone. Without cause or reason? Read the first paragraph. |

What's "elitist" about a competition? |

Aw shucks bliss, you're making me blush. |

I'd say just filter on vote totals, but people seem to give croissants to silly annotation threads more often than they do to serious ideas. (Which is why I appear to have turned into a curmudgeon.) |

You mean you weren't a curmudgeon before? |
