A small village, located in a nice climate, where bakers can retire to spend their later years in an atmosphere of experimentation and lunacy. Complete with community workshops for project development.
Knowing us, security could be a problem.
Here are some suggestions for our signage

I think I'm booking a place there now,
provided I can chose my neighbours in
advance. |
Will probably require it's own thermonuclear power station, and most likely hydraulic hookups inside homes next to ultra-grounded electric outlets. |
Retirement? I'm gonna Halfbake till I pop this mortal coil. |
Well, [DrCurry], given my financial prospects I'd have to say I'm with you on that one. But it's amusing to think about the weekends in the old 'bakers community, and the kids drop off the grandkids - geared up in helmets, pads, and other forms of life support system. |
"Now be careful on the trebuchet"... |
Just on the outskirts of Inventor's Village, no doubt. |
I hear the Croissant Heights neighborhood is nice. Though, depending on where you're coming from, you may have to cross through Fishbone Valley on your way there. Fishbone Valley is among the less affluent, rougher neighborhoods of the sort where the Pun Shops are most likely to be found. |
Of course, the design of the streets and such will be poorly thought out. This will lead to plenty of traffic problems to keep the residents mentally active. |
Well, I've heard positive things about the tri-laned freeways. Although apparently there is constant reconstruction. |

//A small village//
Would we elect just ONE idiot, take turns, or what? Tell me how the hell that would that work!? |
There'd always be some newbie who hasn't read the help file coming along to fill that void. |
I'll be wondering where jutta is hiding her "special" portrait. She never seems to age... |
It's Custard Row for me, I think. Not so many sharp edges to hurt myself on. |
...as long as there's a gym for saggy buns....+ |
Oh, I see you have a thermo-nuclear device to clean the pool. Gotta go! |
Presumably this is all going to be powered by the on-site gym. |
Put me down for a spot, and maybe a seat on the pedants' committee. |
I'll move from house to house and mooch of all of you. |
"You owe me, man. I bunned that perpetual motion idea when no one else would. I thought we were friends. Well, e-friends..." |
I have the feeling that we will need to find, purchase and build next to a used hydro electric dam. |
Binary telephone numbers, gotta have those. Sadly, the town planning committee was forced to include a paintball arena. |
No halbakery village could be complete without:
[Dr Bob] the Builder,
Postman [Paddy Pat], or even[po] St.manpat,
[noddy], and
Fireman [Salmon of doubt]. |
[Unabubba], the only problem I have with all of that is the [sound mind] part. |
NEWBIES for Village Idiot!!!? I'm offended! Shouldn't that position be won by election? |
My initial platform states that if [zen_tom] doesn't move in upon retirement, he should be kidnapped and made to live in the high castle. (see, shouldn't I beat any newbie hands down?) |
You're right, [Unabubba], tourism could be a major source of revenue for the community. |
[UB] I only see minimal references to that. Is it something like - |
"You would have been enjoying your trip much more if you would have been thinking only to donate a small paltry sum that perhaps you might have been thinking would maybe be too large before you met me who might have been wanting to be relieving you of the 2 dollars you were thinking you probably might not have been needing. |
I probably screwed that up royally. |
Will there be a large white bouncing balloon to herd back errant residents ? |
We hope there will be a suitable clear area on the outskirts where we can park our Cube. |
Ack! Missed a reference to me from 5 years back, and now it's too late to make a timely remark! |
I don't think I'd need to be kidnapped to move in - I'd quite like to make this happen though. What would we need? |
At a bare minimum, we'd need a series of metal, wood and other material 'shops containing lathes, bandsaws and other dangerous and powerful tools. In addition to that, a computer, chemical, photographic and other enbenched labs, inwhich to design and conduct experiments. A large enclosed hangar-like area like a sports hall, in which ballistic, aerodynamic and lighter-than air designs can be tried out, and an even larger open area of grassland in which animal husbandry, and high exposives can be safely practiced. Around this idyllic countryside environment, a racetrack should snake, possibly flanked by a railway track upon which could be mounted trolleys containing photographic equipment, cake and other refreshments. |
And a squash court ... all the best nuclear fission experiments are done in squash courts. |
World-class pastry shops and fishmongers.... and a hospital with a very large ER. |
... with some very well trained and understanding psychiatrists ... |
There should also be pen and paper stations on every street corner. Lord knows how many HB ideas have been lost in the more nebulous portions of my memory under the presumption that I would remember it later. |
The possibility, (however slight) that ALL of these lost HB ideas were going to take the "Recent" page by storm; garnering copious bunnage and volumes of witty, engaging annotations, all praising both the idea and the idea's poster, keeps me up at least one night out of the month. |
// ...as long as there's a gym for saggy buns... // |
And an urgent care facility nearby. Perhaps a few. |
A recent post on an idea I'd forgotten. |
I was looking for my recumbent zucchini prose, please let me know where I can find it, thanks. |
Nice to meet you [whatrock] - yes, I would hope for urgent care facilities to be on every street corner, and also in roaming trucks playing an appropriate theme song (see link). |
But what would that song be? |
Recipe for a rewrite of Animal Farm only with

Better if the ants could sing. |

.... And Protestants not dimbo Catholic ones |

Oh dear; ulsterior motives? |
