Good! I first thought 'butterfly bedsheets' that would thwart sheet-snatchers, but a quick review of the dead certainty that twice as much sheet would thereby end up in half as many hands beguiled me to turn up my nose to this idea. Never mind. What you suggest sounds cozy to me. |

Wouldn't your feet get cold? |

I thought this was going to be 1/2 Guinness, 1/2 Harp's. |

[pottedstu] - my feet don't get cold for some reason. In fact, when I sleep, I usually let my feet hang out from the sheets. |

Like thumbwax, I thought this was going to be something to do with flying "three sheets to the wind" and the great British (Scottish?) tradition of a "half and half" - i.e. half gill of whisky with a half pint of beer as a chaser. |

[Guy Fox]: That's just Scottish; half and half (pronounced 'arfanarf') means something else down here, usually a pint composed of halves of two different beers. (Details will be known or assumed locally.) An ex-barman mate told me that a customer once ordered 'A pint, a pint of half-and-half, a half of half-and-half, and a half.' Unfortunately, the beer was on measured dispense, so the only way to get a half of half-and-half was to pour a pint of half-and-half and half it. |

The English have some strange drinking habits. I'm still amused at the idea of having lemonade in your beer, but this arfanarf lark is completely barking. On topic, I often have the reverse problem, where my lower legs are cold but my torso is too hot, so I guess all I'd have to do is turn them round. What if I shared a bed with someone like OICU812 though? Would it be possible to have a 'battenburg' style quartered sheet? |
