Hairshoes are shoes with hair that you must style before wearing, and present numerous opportunities to fully customise.
They come in both male and female varieties, and there is a considerable range of hair types with which to work. Hair is very versatile, and can be combed, brylcreemed, permed,
dyed, shampooed, put up in rollers, blown into curls, made to stand up like a mohican etc etc. In fact every known style of hair possible on a human head can be replicated on the shoe hair.
For grunge merchants, there are tatty dreadlocks to be cultivated that can be bolstered with attachments. Macho types may want to close cut the hair down to a stubble, or even shave it off completely returning the shoes to a "bald" state.
People are often judged on the state/style of their shoes. Hairshoes add considerably to that opportunity. They have few (if any) advantages or practical use. They are a pain to maintain and require constant attention, but the style, the style.
I wear mine straight.

The thrill of it, each step would be hair-raising. |

The vegetarian version could consist of embedding composted watercress upon the upper of said shoes.+ |

Are you sure you searched this idea, as I'm finding many hair shoes and boots! |
|
|
The examples are all fixed styles that the shoes are sold with. The new idea here is that the hair must be styled by the owner. |

Oh, I guess that would make a difference. |

I envision the sandal bedecked with many heads of Barbie, gazing blithely out from atop the toes, their interbraided tresses twining along the straps. Perhaps one head per small toe, thus necessitating the names Eanie, Mini, Meighnie and Moe. The last, of course, would have no braids but rather a short bowl cut. |

You already have a song for the advert.. |

"I'm the sole and hair of a shoe not that criminally vulgar..." |

I would think the first link I posted shows hair that can be styled or worn straight. |
