So many awful jokes to be made!

Do to the excessive amount of puns I noticed on a posting of mine (link below) I realized how good halfbakers are at making bad jokes. Now, I take pride in a good pun, epecially if its one that requires excessive thinking. So I suggest that someone make available the position of Pun Master of HB or something of that nature. Their job would be to go through and look at the new annotations and find the funniest pun and post it in a special section. Now Half-Bakers can be proud of their ideas and their wittisisms!

I see no substantial difference between "pun" ideas and many of the other tongue-in-cheek ideas that get posted here frequently.

The latter may occasionally be more creative, but they're going after the same nerdy funny bone.

I undestand jutta's desire not to descend into pun hell, but the other silliness seems to be tolerated just fine.

Are you the Pope of negative Space?
k_sra, Mar 02 2004

Clearly the pope is negative, not space.

Puns get weary after a fashion. With the bakery, that happened for me sometime around 2002 or so.

A pun should not be its own reward.

In Kim Stanley Robinson's Melancholy Elephants, a future society subtly erases copyrighted works older then a certain age.

Otherwise, the theory went, perfectly brilliant writers and composers would start to duplicate previously written stuff.

Obviously an allegory, however it's been recently striking me that the problem is that there's simply no freshness in anything for the older people, and too much giddiness for the new.

It's like you need different sites for different audiences.
