This would allow you to see not only when people are
stopping, but when they're accelerating as well.
When just cruising it would just be off like a regular brake
light. I'm not sure if this would be useful or not.

know about it. If they're accelerating, I only need to
know about if they have, for example, kidnapped my
dog and I am in hot pursuit. |

Given that the latter is unlikely to happen (our dog is
very grumpy and remarkably stupid; I'd ask them for
ransom to take it back), I'm not sure it's worth adding
to the optical noise. |

At traffic lights, knowing the car infront's accceleration means, as a driver, you can stay closer and allow more people behind through. On jammed motorways, an indication of acceleration might make for a more gentle traffic waveform. |

Needs be hooked to tire rotation: acceleration green, deceleration red, reverse white... regardless of driver input. |

^ I don't see your point. In that case, normally there would be a red light followed by nothing when he takes his foot off the brake and steps on the gas. In the case of a red/green/white indicator, there'd be nothing when his foot comes off the gas, then green when it hits the gas (and the wheels' rotational speed increases). |

Oh, driver's input is also signalled so you can tap the brakes as a headsup. |

accelerate, the green light would become red-shifted
from the perspective of the person behind you and
they would just see a murky brown light. |
