Grease

name change to solve debt

The problem with Greece is that it has borrowed 320 billion Euros; cannot pay it back, and actually needs to borrow even more to simply survive.

The solution is to start making money from something that people already pay for and widely use, and over which the Greeks can claim ownership with a simple name change. Naturally I mean "Greece" changing its name to that of "Grease".

You see it sounds exactly the same, so they can claim that a typo was made sometime ago (during the time perhaps of Aristotle) and they are now entitled to retrospective royalties on all Grease sales since then.

While they're at it, they can add in numerous other Greek owned terminologies like Alpha, Pi, Omega etc etc. Socket sets for fixing cars were clearly named in honour of Socrates. There is a potentially endless list here, and the clever Greeks are missing a trick by not enforcing basic royalty payments.

They should license out democracy. That should be worth a few bucks.

Went for a lovely Greek meal last night. I tried defaulting on the payment, and entered into negotiations on a bailout, but made little headway. The summit intended to resolve issues and restructure the debt was short and involved lots of crockery.

I also tried explaining that Greece already owes me about £450 from previous bailouts. This did not seem to sway matters.

In any case, Greece already has tsatziki and those little plastic replicas of the Acropolis. If it can't make a go of it with all those advantages, then frankly I don't see much hope.

Think about how much you owe them for every time you have used Pi?
xenzag, Jul 13 2015

Yes, but they owe a fortune to the Arabs for the digits. In fact, given that pi is irrational...

The Vatican (Rome's heir) should pay for the statues, architecture, philosophical, moral and government systems that they successfully copied and used during the good times.

And for the religion they developed based on Greek Orthodox Christianity.

Well, I've been thinking of flogging genuine chippings from Plato's cave, so they could do that to bring in a spot of wonga.

Did you feel compelled to post this idea on HB, you might the victim of a geas.

I always vote.... and seldom use fish bones unless animal abuse or scum of the earth Monsanto feature in idea.

I vote when something moves me to do so. Never bone, always bun, but sometimes I forget. More and more I forget. It's that age thing I think, [dentie].

How different from the more advanced economies like, for example, the United States. Oh, wait ...

Still working on "what's good for the geas is good for a gander". It's work in progress.

Anyway, <cuts to pages falling off a calendar> wasn't it weird that the Greeks managed to kludge together enough gold to repay the 320 billion, melt it down in a equine shape, transport it to EU bank and the very next day - as it was being due to be assayed - some radical buddhists managed to a- bomb the place, irradiating it to such a level that no on can enter it for several decades...
