Over the centuries, many painters have depicted many landscapes and buildings. There must be dozens, if not hundreds of these by now.

Many of these painters have also, very considerately, died a long time ago. Which means that their paintings are out of copyright.

So, scan all of these paintings and, as an option, replace Street View images with them where possible.

Maybe streetview could include the inside of famous buildings as well; painted or photographed. Although, I suppose, it wouldn't be streetview any longer.

//The Street View Images would be a little duller though surely ? Either that or the idea needs some elaboration.//

To clarify - one would scan the *front* of the paintings.

A map overlay with the points might be more appropriate. Clicking on them would show the now and then view.

Some paintings might look less dull on the obverse.

/Some paintings/ Most paintings except for double sided ones and those other paintings that might look better on the reverse.
