Fun Gym

A gym where the equipment is fun and game-like

This past weekend I saw an episode of total wipe0out, where contestants compete to complete an obstacle course. It struck me that the courses were like a real-life Mario brothers game. And they looked like a whole lot of fun!

A friend of mine recently had an engagement party at Bouncy Castles, and, boy, after all these years, it sure was fun to bounce around! I quickly realized how out of shape I was when I got winded after some 10 minutes and the kids were still going strong.

I abhor gyms; they seem to be the more boring and dull places where people drag themselves to do the most mind-numbing exercises in the world.

I think it would be great to have a gym that had equipment that was fun to use -- something more like attractions at a Chuck E. Cheese or amusement park. Equipment could have game elements, like a whack-a-mole that takes some strength to whack. You could incorporate competition, like stationary bikes where you race with others in a video game screen above. Or, you could have teamwork stations where you 'advance' by working together, such as rowing oars in a roman or viking-style ship.

Obviously, one could invent many different fun and interesting exercise stations; unfortunately, the text input box on this site is too small to list them all.

Annotation:

Obviously you haven't seen the quantity of stuff that various other people have managed to fit into that "too small" input text box.

On the other hand, you don't really want to list a bunch of fun excercises, because then this Idea might be flagged for deletion (lists are frowned-upon around here).

       Oxymoron.

I'm sure this came up a while back and I ranted about the concept being an oxymoron then as well.

[DrBob], I was writing to [lawpoop], and therefore "other" meant "other than [lawpoop]". OK?

"fun" gyms have been done to death here. Needs to be far more original than this to dispel this bone.
