A smartphone payment app will tally up the calorie and nutritional
profile of your food purchases, as you make them. The app will display
the calorie and nutritional profile of the item(s) you're paying for, even
before you approve the payment. These calorie/nutritional profiles of
food items
would be measured against your pre-set nutritional/calorie
goals, to let you know how your choices are impacting your dietary
goals. It may even be possible to set the app to prevent purchases of
items which radically exceed your dietary presets. As a mobile location-
aware map, it might even display a list of nearby eateries with
acceptable menu items having nutritional profiles falling within your
remaining current daily dietary quota amounts.

Maybe it could even offer some price discount incentive, if
you stay within your daily dietary allowance. Have you ever
seen these auto insurance apps that track your driving
movements? They give you an insurance discount based on
how well you drive. Imagine getting a health insurance
discount based on your food purchasing pattern. You are what
you eat - what you put into your body matters. |

[kdf] But have discounts ever been offered in connection
with health insurance plans? That could be a new and useful
innovation totally apart from food stamps, etc. |
