This makes about as much sense as putting the hangover supplies behind the toilet... [+]

       Hopefully with childproof door locks...

If you're in that much pain, is there anything in the medicine cabinet that would help? Maybe you need a telephone on the floor as well.

What's really needed is a medicine cabinet on an axle that spins in the opposite direction to the room.

However much pain you're in that's keeping you from standing up, may also keep you from crawling to the room in which your floor level medicine cabinet is located.

Better would be a mobile medicine cabinet - maybe mounted atop one of those robotic vacuum cleaners and callable by remote to bring meds while you just lay and wait.

Once it's delivered the requisite meds it's conveniently located ready to clean up whatever spillage has occurred while you were indisposed.

Just don't fall ill on the stairs... they don't do stairs.

And make sure you have one on every floor in your house.

So the kids can help themselves?

Fanny pack and a Medic-Alert bracelet. It's really the only way to go.

What [scad mientist], if you are in so much pain that you can't stand, it's most assuredly time to call for help. Quickly.
