This straw would have a national or company plastic flag attached high up on its side. The attachment point would be flexible, only slightly like the accordion-joint on bendable straws. The flag would continue through to a flap that would flutter in the passing liquid, causing the flag to wave.

Not to be confused with the "patriots blow" flag draped flute?

For some strange reason, I suspect this would sell better if there was a cartoon face on the straw, and sucking made the ears wiggle.

would the flag raise and lower with drinking? it should. check. replace flag with drowning swimmer. yes. or drowning swimmer with semaphore 'diver down' flag. double yes.

An alternate design could lower a tiny flag pole with furled flag from parallel to the straw to a right angle before fluttering, caused by the flap being sucked up into the fluid stream.

The flag should read, “drinking now in progress,” or, “do not disturb,” or, “milk near nose – no jokes please.”
