Design an insulated fireplace with double paned glass doors, so the fire is visible, but most of it's heat doesn't directly enter the room.
Install an absorbtion chiller in the chimney shaft above the fire, so that it's driven by the hot air from the fire, and cools the room.
As an added bonus,
by flipping a lever or two, the absorbtion chiller might be able to act as an absorbtion heater, providing more heat for the room than an ordinary fireplace is able to.
