Perfect for wearing to raves.

A belt that works using the same technology as those fiber optic novelty lamps [link]. The belt is braided with these fiber optic strands and in the buckle is a battery pack and light emitter. It would glow bright and could even change color like the novelty toys mentioned earlier.

Fiber optic novelty lamps http://www.coolstuf...m/batpowfibopl.html
As seen at Spencer Gifts and other novelty stores. [jivetalkinrobot, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

Not these http://xstatikgear.com/fiberopticbelt.htm
My idea would be about a dozen braided fiber optic strands. [jivetalkinrobot, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

Braided like this http://www.amazon.c...36-1921748?v=glance
Sorry to go link-crazy here, wish I could draw like [bristolz] [jivetalkinrobot, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

Uhm, those fiber optic things only emit light out of the very ends, no?

[DN] They're brightest at the end, but check out the link, they definitely glow throughout the tube, too.

[Mr Burns] Does EL wire change color, though?
jivetalkinrobot, Aug 12 2003

EL wire is available in all colors of the rainbow, plus it does change color based on voltage and frequency. ELwire runs at about 200volts, at a frequency of ~1200Hz.. change the freq and/or voltage, and the wire changes hue.

I've made ELwire clothing - great for raves/industrial shows/clubs.. cheap 9v inverters are great for power source too.
