Faces Book

This is for a unique library, where the spines of books are faced inwards, and books are stacked vertically in columns. Each volume is intricately illustrated upon the edges with the faces of the thinkers whose thoughts are written on the pages. In the place of each portrait's mouth there is a thumb index that opens to the page where those thoughts are to be found. Pages are not only indicated by thumb indexes but also suture marks across foreheads, so that the effect is opening up the heads and viewing the contents of the brains.
