A new low.

You are in a crowded express elevator going down from the 50th floor of a high rise buiding. You say, "Going down!" A screeching sound fills the compartment. Suddenly the elevator's digital readout is counting down faster and faster, and then becomes negative numbers. The screeching continues and you scream, "What the hell?!" and now the negative numbers are speeding up to triple digits. Smoke is now curling up from around the frame of the display as the numbers are counting down even faster. The other passengers are now screaming too. Then the screaming is joined by Satanic laughter. The readout now flashes "hell" in digital letters as it smokes and crackles. The elevator stops and the doors start to open, you grab the inner edges of the doors and scream, "Take me, not them!"

You then grab the display that was stuck magnetically over the real readout, and run quickly out of the elevator. Pocketing the voice activated device, you leave the building.

Video shorts all taken on an elevator. Some may not be safe for work. [bristolz, Oct 04 2004]

Probably should read the "Elefesto" first. http://www.elevator...s.com/elefesto.html

The display should come with its own musak.
I went down, down, down, and the flames, they went higher.
And it burns, burns, bu...

You can have a version of this for people waiting to get on the elevator. They see the numbers rapidly decreasing, then hear muffled screams as the illusionary elevator passes their floor downward. I'd bet most people would decide to take the stairs.
