Exhaust sock

An automotive meme

Take a windsock-like sleeve of heat resistant fabric and attach it to the tail pipe of a car. When the engine is running, the sock will inflate/blow around.

Suggested depictions:
Fake flames
Fake leg/foot
One of those "dancing people" usually seen at car lots (this one requires an upturned piece of fabric or tailpipe and will probably only work when the car isn't moving)
Fake lance
Fake tailpipe

       Sure, sized to fit.

How about a big sign that says "Stay off my bumper!"?

I like the fake foot flag. + Arizona will never be the same...

Could also be an indication of wether or not your car is running properly. I'd like to see [KL_Rico]'s car with a goofy sock on it!

It can be dangerous to believe everything you hear.

Personally, I want exhaust sock turn signals at the rear of the car. You'd need a split exhaust system, and some means of retracting the dancer between uses.

I love it. Reminds me of wind dancers. <link>

I like it. And I like [normzone]'s adaptation. Reminds me of this comment made elsewhere: "I'd like the punchy clown things even better if they'd rapidly inflate and deflate as auxiliary turn indicators."
