I don't want a electric mobility scooter.

Preferable option would be a 640 lb battery packed rechargeable knuckle walking/bipedal mechanized gorilla.

By engaging four limb knuckle walking drive I could saddle up and ride it to the shops.

It's a shame that there aren't more or any banana yellow electric street recharging stations.

Certainly seems like something for which there exists a high demand. [+]

Perhaps it could be programmed to climb into a tree and wait there until summoned by a remote control, or by the owner giving an appropriate 'Tarzan' yodel…

Since the gorilla will not have lights (except for the Bill Gates model, where a blinding light shines continouously from its rear), the rider should be prepared to don a fluorescent Orang jacket during the hours of darkness …

Strangely enough, Vernis Shackelford constructed a steam-powered rideable gorilla in the 1890s, and made quite a lot of money as a showman, working mainly in Devon and Cornwall. The apparatus was lost with the sinking of the Emphira in the Channel in 1896, after which Shackelford turned to drink.
