Duct Tape Gun

Fires Duct Tape at Target

This would be a gun into which you would load a roll of duct tape. The gun would have a mechanism to peel the tape and when the trigger was pressed, the duct tape would shoot out. Pulling the trigger would do a few things: release the tape and start whatever part is necessary to keep the roll spinning, and also, compressed air would be released in a narrow opening, the width of the tape but very very thin. Also, when first pressed, the trigger would released a small pin that would catch the beginning of the tape and pin it to the target so the air could do it's job ("sticking" the tape to the surface). When the trigger is released, the tape is cut, the compressed air jet finishes it's job then turns off, and a new pin drops into place for the next target. This would probably have to be corded, although it could run off batteries if the compressed air was based on a CO2 type cartridge. While actual constructive uses might be limited, it would be very effective for all your covering chairs with tape, covering tabletops with tape, and other duct tape related shenanigans.

Exactly. Bun. [+]. Although I really CAN'T see a real application for this other than duct tape terrorism.

actually, it wouldn't be that bad- if it was a relatively flat surface. i thought of this today while using duct tape around some rafter insulation (cheating when i ran out of staples). it would be useful for any application of duct tape to a flat surface.

I thought this was going to be another non-lethal weapon......Batman would have liked this.

It would probably make a healthy ptbptbth noise (sp: Bill Watterson) as well, and is a worthwhile idea for that reason alone. The problem with gadgets like this is getting people to buy them, not whether they're any use or not. A rude raspberry sound would help the marketing no end.

Like paintball, only with duct tape? Stick this: [+]

I played a lot of tournament paintball, and I bet that Duct Tape is more painful ... instead of wearing goggles, you wear a helmet in fear of having the tape wrapped arround your head. I shudder just thinking about it ...

Well, Duct tape will leave a semi-permanent residue on some surfaces ...
