I know someone who, for their PhD, did basically
that; they used all the available information on
multiple murderers in the UK since 1850.
According to their thesis, the best predictors of
being a mass murderer are being male; being
between the ages of 45 and 50; being either
unemployed _or_ being employed at the upper
end of a profession; having had both parents
around until at least the age of 15; having been
treated for psychiatric illness; and being single.

What didn't make it into their thesis were three
other predictors which were more powerful than
any of the above factors at discriminating mass
murderers from the general population: being a
vegetarian; having a middle name beginning with
"M"; and being born (or raised) in a house whose
number was prime. Being born in a house with a
prime number increases the chances of your
becoming a mass murderer by about 125 times
relative to the population as a whole.

Surely "ever having killed masses" ranks highly as a prime
indicator. |

It's a pretty robust indicator, but less good as a
predictor. |

Surely 'unpredictability' aswell, for any of those potential
killers who were predicted ultimately never succeeded for
that reason. Therefore, the exercise is mostly futile.

This phenomena will hereby be know as the rcarty
statistical anomaly whereby preemptive statisical profiling
invalidates the very conclusions used for effective
profiling, because the profilees are prevented from
validating the research through requisite killings. |

I just don't want the feds, using their collected metadata, to
come kicking in my door because someone used my phone in
the commission of a crime or act of terrorism. I want to
personally throw the SOB who tries to inflict such excitement
upon me under the wheels of the US justice system. |
