Quad/hex/octacopters, commonly known as drones have
been around for a while, they're useful for low cost
airborne filming or damaging commercial jet engines.
Now, firework displays have been around longer. Such
displays usually have two components, the fireworks that
are on the ground, and
the ones that are shot into the air.
The ones that are on the ground typically spew lots of nice
colours upwards, but are limited by their location.
Fireworks shot into the air make lovely overhead
explosions that can be seen from great distance. But,
they're somewhat limited by their upward and subsequent
downward movement.
Say we use a bunch of drones, you can mount complex
ground fireworks on them, then have them fly up into a
pre programmed location and set off the firework. Then
they can all move around in whatever way the display team
want. As fireworks are used up the drones come down to
re load, and off they go again.
Display teams can build much more complex displays with
big cool sequences. Also, drones can have powerful lights
of their own to light up smoke clouds and so on. Would
look fantastic.

In parts of the middle east, they get a similar
on a regular basis, and for free. Damn this
foreign aid. |

BTW we all got out halfbakeryied by the
science team who fitted a praying mantis with
3d glasses. C link. |

How they are going to get the tiny popcorn, I
have no idea... |

Baked, using model helicopters powered by IC engines, so there's plenty of available lift. Celebration Fireworks, 2008. |

Manually flown rather than autonomous. |

Perhaps not WKTE, but [suggested-for-deletion], definitely not an original idea. |
