[instamatik]'s link, as a link [zen_tom, Jan 25 2013]

[link]

Welcome [instamatik] if you're new here, but check the help file under "meta" for reasons why some ideas get [marked-for-deletion] magic. Better luck next time.

I'm liking this one actually - but only after taking a chance and clicking on the link - funnily enough - [instamatik]'s rendition of his idea reminds me of some of [xenzag]'s pictorial accompaniments.

I've taken the liberty of converting that in-text link into a real, live clickable one - [instamatik] there's a [link] button you can press to do that same thing - it's just like making an annotation, only link-style.

Also, the general style-guide here (if it existed - that of course would be too easy) might encourage posters to be more literary in their presentation - personally, I'm less bothered about that in this case - the "hook" is perhaps a visual one - so I think this works as it is.

I thought this was going to be something else.

       [+] cute.

[instamatik] the button marked "link" is for adding links, like [zen_tom] did for you. Please repost your link as the original (not the redirect) link.

[xenzag] no call for the MFD here. Instamatic doesn't claim that the magic actually /does/ anything.

//with mystical powers// I thought that bit was a bit of a give away? Ok here's another one then - Abracadabra tin opener - Tin opener at the end of a magician's wand.

The point is you can attach anything to something that supposedly has mystical or magical powers.... line of least invention I call it.

well there goes my Abaracadaver idea...
I like the gif (+)

The term “magic” in the context of an MFD doesn't imply actual magic: “the author is using a technology they know very little about as magic.”

So the MFD is reserved for ideas that imply that obvious problems that the idea faces can be simply solved with a blanket application of some technology. Idea that specifically claim to be magical or have mystical powers do NOT qualify, and would generally fall well within the standard threshold for whimsy at the Halfbakery.

//Abracadabra tin opener - Tin opener at the end of a magician's wand.// I would bun that.

My m-f-d still stands. In hands of moderators, but if this is allowed to remain, then standards will have slipped and I for one can devise a tidal wave of devices, each of which is made credible by being attached to some mystical/magical/superstitious other object. I have given one example already, The Abracadabra Tin Opener. I'll wait a few days and start posting them as original ideas.

       hmmm....

I sorta like the post though I'da put the dreamcatcher on the business end of the backscratcher, keeping the bun up, but y'all doomsayers do have a point: it's pretty shallow without an half-explanatory note, eg: "to weed out any nightmares that may have become lodged in the spinal column".

[xenzag] so you'd find "Magic Wand TV Remote: change the channel, oooh it's maaaagic" mfd material ?

Mostly I'm offended by the newbie errors of embedding a link in the post and using a redirect-url.
