The idea is to have a paid version where people can make drawings, scan them and then upload them. I mean using other free sites like what Farmer John does it not a bad idea either but i would much rather have my ideas and diagrams in the same place. and besides, geocities might go paid one day anyway.

Most of us have just this thing. Also consider the phrase:
// paid version where people can make drawings, scan them and then upload them.//
What the hell did that mean?.
Are you asking for a free upload site specific to Halfbaked drawings?
gnomethang, Feb 01 2004

No, you make a donation to the bakery and get 5MB of space for your half baked ideas. I like this. I had images for many of my ideas-- but now the links are broken since I don't use the same server-- updating them all is silly. I wanna upload to the bakery and I'll pay to do it!
futurebird, Feb 01 2004

OK. I'll remove my fishbone since you explained the idea such that I understand it. I don't much like the idea though.
gnomethang, Feb 01 2004

Thanks for clearing that out [futurebird]!
nomadic_wonderer, Feb 01 2004

Mine was free in the very beginning, but now I pay for a popup-free site at geocities.
FarmerJohn, Feb 01 2004

In the beginning there was geocities...

[FarmerJohn] then you agree with me on this idea?
nomadic_wonderer, Feb 01 2004

I agree with your meaning if not the details, but I think jutta recently mentioned "plans" to solve these very problems.
FarmerJohn, Feb 01 2004

       Oh I see!
nomadic_wonderer, Feb 01 2004

I don't see what's wrong with current methods. futurebird could solve her problem by fixing her links.

Someone should fill me in on why bit maps are frowned upon then, that's all I've got right now.

[jutta] There are ways of becoming commercial without really doing any wrong you know. Just imagine.. if you could collect enough money (from us) and maybe in a years time have an actual conference or something.... people could travel from London, Ypsilanti and Delhi to come attend. I think thats putting revenue to good use!
nomadic_wonderer, Feb 02 2004

So you're saying that [jutta] should create the software for a seperate solution, setup a payment and verification system, and support the entire setup so that she can gather enough money to fly me somewhere? Sounds good to me, but I'm not sure she'll like that.
Worldgineer, Feb 02 2004

[Worldgineer] not fly you but set up the conference! we fly ourselves! the money could be used to hire help or something like that.
nomadic_wonderer, Feb 02 2004

Either way, sounds like a good deal to me but not likely worth [jutta]'s time.
Worldgineer, Feb 02 2004

[jutta] That's what I meant with the quotes.
FarmerJohn, Feb 02 2004

nomad - jutta doesn't even post *her* pictures as part and parcel of the 'bakery. Why should you, me or any other mere mortal do so?
thumbwax, Feb 03 2004

The Geocities statistics show traffic of about 5,000 MB/month. The most popular drawings have been viewed 200-300 times total, most in the first month. The Chime Swing sketch was hit 64 times, 92% via halfbakery.
FarmerJohn, Feb 05 2004

What was the other 8% - search engine indexing robots?
Detly, Feb 05 2004

I guess; another picture was found 38% of 843 times by typing "thongthong" in yahoo search.
FarmerJohn, Feb 05 2004

(types in thongthong in Google) Ha! How'd I miss that one?
