Dome of Giant Insects

Nightmare fuel for some, awesomeness for others

The carboniferous era had oxygen levels 30% higher than today.

This incredible oxygen level allowed for the evolution of giant insects, spiders, and the like.

If a large dome was climate controlled to have the climate of a swamp and the excess oxygen, we can create some truly amazing insect specimens. Imagine butterflies with 2-foot wingspans (or more). A preserved 3-foot spider would make a great gag gift! Some brave humans might select for the larger specimens as we go, or we could just see what nature does.

because of the short lifespan of insects, we should be able to see the gigantism process begin and progress rather rapidly.

While some might consider a land of giant bugs reckless, they would of course depend on the insanely high oxygen levels, and thus the worst case scenario of escapes is, the escapees die.

Plus, people could go there to get high from the excess oxygen!

//worst case scenario// - well, I'm certain that movie makers would be lined up to film the creatures therein, so "best case" might be a few actors get Shelob'd into the treetops.

This is great! although some of the interesting creatures would be quite scary, I suspect I'd be able to run-away quite well....

Haha, yeah I like intersubjective phenomena too.

But ''I love you too Internet text'' is up there with ''I love you too telephone'', ''I love you too handheld device'', and ''I love you too soundwaves''.
