"Movements" not meaning to be too descriptive. I'm just saying, what time the dog eats, goes out the doggy door, comes back in, (or waits by the door or window) you could track it in the neighborhood if you were home and wondered where it went.

You could yell at the dog via your computer speakers "get outa there" if it was approaching the trash container, or going to drink from the toilet. (Possibly saving your dogs life)

similar to link (I'm assuming this cat version would work for dogs).

I read this as DodgyData and figured hippo was conducting a survey.

If you're [athome], you should just be able to follow your dog around.

Either way, you clearly have far too much time on your hands.

I don't think the cat thing is the same at all, it used a hard drive. I'm saying a live transmiting signal on a cordless device - wirlessbandwidth, attached to the collar. And because I am not home frequently I would like to "see" if and when the damn dog is chewing up my socks (which she did today) and Yell "hey put that sock down" if she is in that room (I would be able to tell because it would map a schematic of the house, live on the web for me to see what room).

I did not have video in mind,(imagine cleaning time) just tracking in and around the house - out of interest and for preserving my socks and shoes and not coming home to the garbage mess.

Yea just like us all way too much time on my hands, feel guilty.

You'd need video if you want to see if your dog is chewing your sock.

apologies [athome] you're quite right, it's a bit of a different idea, but I can't believe there isn't a device out there that would let you do this (for a start the tracking devices they use for prisoners on home curfew).

There was this weird dog collar made in Japan that recorded your dog's "emotions" from day to day by analysing the noises it made... it seemed a bit stupid to me.
