I'm not real clear what you are trying to do here, but
I suspect it's close to Lytro's work (see link). |

Is there any idea that hasn't been baked yet? |
Your idea is very vaguely described, pashute. It's a little hard to figure out exactly what you are proposing, let alone whether it has been baked or not. |

What are these "exra sensors"? Are they CCD arrays, like the ones inside existing cameras? If they are "outside camera focus" *, how do you imagine they are gathering useful image data? |
* (which means what exactly? They're in the same plane, but outside and adjacent to the area of the existing central CCD onto which the lens focuses an image? Or ... where?) |
A fly's eye compound lens with one lenticle per pixel could be interesting. It would certainly be flat. Consider though that each lens would have to be as precisely machined as a full-size lens, at millionths of the size. |
Yes CCD arrays, ouside of the camera's focus. I
imagine that it is possible to "unzoom" by signal
processing the information, if there's enough of it. |
/Extra range of sensors outside camera focus receive light information/ |

For this I would use a second camera, outside the first, and nearer to the object. You could attach it but it would be with a long cord, or that whole "wireless" that they have going on. |
