This is a software program that creates a 3d image by resolving various 2d images, for instance pinhole images created on the ground by the sun streaming through gaps between the leaves on a tree, an effect that is also known as dappling, as in dappled sunlight. This would take a lot of processing and a lot of automatic cognition but the result would be that the environment -- in this case the canopy of the forest -- could be used as a giant bug eye.

That photo of the eclipse is really cool. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time thinking of any other situations where this would result in a useful image.

If the object you're trying to photograph is not significantly brighter than the rest of the sky it will be completely washed out.

I figured you could start with two actual pinhole images and write a software that would use the two images to resolve one 3d image, and then develop from there. Eventually you would be able to see around corners and who knows what the limit would be.
