Think of those rotating wardrobes you see on tv or in rich peoples homes.

Now imagine a DVD rack, built into your wall, holding a couple of hundred DVDs (or videos), using the same rotating technology.

A hole in the wall would allow you to add and remove DVDs, and buttons would control the direction of rotation.

I really hope this is baked, so i can get one when i move house, but a google search found no results :(

I don't know what you mean about rotating wardrobes, but is this essntially like revolving paperback / comic book / postcard racks? (see link)
snarfyguy, Jun 03 2003

a lille bit like that, only electric and wider and on one level.

Is there an easy way to post a picture?

I am trying to find a link to the wardrobe...
MikeOliver, Jun 03 2003

Yeah, just put the pic's url in the link box.
snarfyguy, Jun 03 2003

the pic is on my hard disk... I just drew it...
MikeOliver, Jun 03 2003

Ah, You need web space on which to put it in order to creat a link to it here. You can't link to unhosted image files. Your ISP may give you free space.
snarfyguy, Jun 03 2003

See link for a picture... Should clarify a few details.
MikeOliver, Jun 03 2003

Nope. Still baffled. Please post images as a GIF or JPEG. It's over 500K and WAY to big for such a simple image.

I ain't lookin' at no bitmap.
thumbwax, Jun 03 2003

so strangers in the street can borrow the cd's on the other side of the wall <g>

Go ahead [thumb]. It won't bite.

Baked. Sony, Pioneer and others make a 301-disc DVD carousel. No wall mounting required. [link]
Cedar Park, Jun 03 2003

This is different to the 300 disc dvd changer... This is a method of shelving DVD's in their cases.

I drew the pic in paint, so i could only save as a BMP, but i will work on a smaller file. (edit: see cedar's link instead).

Cedar, are you still baffled having looked at the pic?

The front view is looking at the wall, with the hole to pick up the discs through. The thin things are DVDs.

The top view shows how the carousel rotates... I am not sure i can make it any simpler.

The whole unit lives in the wall cavity.
MikeOliver, Jun 03 2003

Oh... inside their _cases_. Never mentioned that.
[Mike]: To save space on the annos, just insert a < br > (without the spaces) to make a carriage return.

Vertical one for 100 CDs exists: http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/catalog/productview.jhtml?sku=SI793TNM Sharper Image's "Power Tower Motorized 100-CD Rack with Light". At $150, it isn't cheap. Might need a bit of (manufacturer) tweaking for compatibility with the DVD form factor?
nekote, Jan 03 2004

I have the 100CD Pioneer changer and a 5DVD changer. However, I would suspect that digital jukeboxes will outrun the need for this pretty soon
