DKNYoke
smart suit with built in yoke | |
I often find myself having to carry very
heavy bags at this time of year, usually
with poorly designed, skinny handles.
This
problem was traditionally solved by the
use of a wooden yoke, but who's going
to
wear one of these in a smart, urban
environment? I have now solved this
problem,
with a quick phone call to my
good friend Donna Karan.
We're calling it the DKNYoke. It's a well
cut, cool suit with a comfortable, padded
wooden yoke built into its shoulder and neck
area.
The carrying chains make their way down
the inside of the sleeves, terminating in
two retractable designer hooks, that can
be attached discretely to the bags, and
hidden by the hands.

[+] but I'd go more for an external, stylish apparatus or a something that fits *under* the suit rather than the suit itself. |

I had considered that, in the form of
polished, contoured, laminated ply, but
the chains or straps still need to make
their down the inside of the sleeves. |

not really, they can hang on the outside... but i like the no-see'em thing you got going, only thing is you'd have to have an entire wardrobe of different jackets made up like that. |

I'd like it if the yoke could extend out of the shoulders - maybe some sort of spring loaded mechanism - so that the bags can hang clear of the body. |

What does the "N" stand for? |

|
You could make the yoke out of a carbon fibre composite - light, but very rigid. Wouldn't be cheap, though. A lightweight, high-tensile flexible suspenison cord would be no real problem. |

Wearing it would be a little like a flak vest, or American Football shoulder padding, but there's no reason it should be uncomfortable. |

American football shoulder padding should be the next big fashion push. Or perhaps something like what the Romulans wear? |
