Food vending machines in office buildings tend to be full of the worst kind of debris and by-products of international food conglomerates' manufacturing processes and seem purpose-made to result in heart disease or diabetes - 'Chocolate' bars with nary a trace of actual cocoa in, but oozing and greasy
with cheap vegetable fat, crisps which have never seen a potato, fried in a dubious slurry produced from industrial cattle processing, and drinks so high in sugar content that they're like a sort of liquid jam.
This idea is to bring about a change in the healthiness and provenance of the food in these machines and to stop all the profits going to the aforementioned international conglomerates. So, if you think your home-made chocolate brownies are pretty good, made, as they are, with fair-trade 70% cocoa solids chocolate and organic pecans, you take a batch of them along to this vending machine and feed them into the slot, having swiped your bank card. They are then displayed in the vending machine with a neat label saying who made them and a list of ingredients and sales (minus a small charge) are credited to your bank account. Sales figures are tallied and your ability to add future products to the vending machine is dependent on how well your brownies sell.

This is sure to end in the poisoning of an entire department

My fondest wish, but not enough preservation time involved.
More preservatives required. |

It could always be protected by a gruntled one. |

I can just imagine my chocolate and sawdust cookie boats, floating on a little mercury pond being a great success. |

Also, because you would be selling stuff through this machine to your orquers de vache, peer pressure would keep prices reasonable. The person sitting at the next desk to you would grumble if they were paying 50p for a banana which they knew you'd just got for 10p from Tesco's round the corner and put in the machine. |
