The extra large head-body ratio will be hard to get without harming the animals. You'll need to breed for thick, sturdy neck bones, which can't really be done without autopsies -- you can xray for cross section but you really need a stronger than standard design as well -- hopefully after a long full life. The intelligence is somewhat easier, but intelligence in dogs so far seems to go along with activity, whereas you want a smart but lazy dog. It's a big project, several hundred years imo. [+] |

Breeding animals is a well known process. You take two animals with more of what you want than others and get them to mate. Repeat a few hundred times, throwing in random genes and avoiding incest as possible, and you get a whole lot of what you want. Black ears, short white hair, big nose. large head, strong yet thin neck, sleeps on its back, and intelligent is a tall order for a dog breed but it's not far fetched. |
