Compatibility Badge

Avoid talking to folks only to find out you just don't like 'em

Fill out a few quick questions and preferences on a PC (or a PDA), e.g.: 'i eat meat'; 'i like penguins'; 'i like men', etc. These are then loaded on to some kind of wearable device/badge-thing with three lights on, red, amber, green. When you first meet someone your lights indicate your compatibility, so you both know immediately whether to get it on, or get out to the car park to settle your differences.

This is both baked and halfbaked. There was a Japanese product called the "Lovegety" that worked similarly. We've also had some very similar inventions here at the bakery, see link.

Geez, if you're gonna do this, why meet people at all? :P

I have to fishbone any compatability idea. Just for the fact that if I had gone by compatability, I would have never met my husband. Honestly we don't have anything in common. It is when you take a chance on something that you never would have thought to before. That is when I found the love of my life. :)

Oh dear, *I* eat meat, I like penguins, and I like men. Does this mean I'm not compatible with myself?
k_sra, Jan 23 2004

So if your badge indicates that you like penguins, does it beep whenever there’s a penguin near by? Or would it only beep if the penguin’s badge indicated that he likes whatever you are?

<'i like men'> now if you first tell me your sex I'll decide on my vote.

A manatee and a penguin eating a hotdog? Did you get a picture?
k_sra, Jan 23 2004

       Ha!
k_sra, Jan 23 2004

That’s great. Without these badges that penguin and that manatee would never have discovered their shared love zoos.
AO, Jan 23 2004

       ...and hot dogs.
